The importance of non verbal communication

Are you actively investing time in learning non verbal communication ? . Perhaps few years back you didn’t even know such a thing exists, so why suddenly it’s such an enormous deal?

This is a really legitimate question, which I mean to answer with not one, but several good reasons to satisfy it. If you’ve got any doubts regarding why and where to use such knowledge – this is often the read for you!

Upgrading Your Communication System

We are born with a really sophisticated and effective system to speak and understand one another . It’s quite amazing, especially once you take under consideration that no-one actively taught us about it.

But however , it’s seems that some people are just better at it. We call such people perceptive and sharp because they possess a special social awareness, they act as if they need an additional sense that permits them to understand what is going on on and the way to react.

Learning to understanding non verbal communication is like upgrading your current system of communication. We all get the “basic kit”, but if you would like to enhance you would like to manually grasp control and actively become more observant.

The difference between someone who knows the way to read non verbal communication and someone who doesn’t is within the significance they provide to nonverbal information. The non verbal cues are present to both, but only the previous knows to seem for them and to trust his gut because he knows they need a meaning.

What we wish to call intuition isn’t some otherworldly concept appears out of nowhere; its roots are within the nonverbal channel, in things unsaid but visible to the eyes and ears. The question is: how good is your “radar” at learning these signals and understand what they will mean?

So the aim is to coach yourself to trust your instincts and skim signals better, you’ll not become Sherlock Holmes , but you’ll know quite enough to urge by in most interactions. it is a social awareness – either you bought it, or learn to enhance it.

And what about what the signals you send to others?

Fake till you make it

Learning non verbal communication isn’t about being a passive observer; we’re not playing at being spies here. You would like to understand what works and the way to use it into your life.

Just by becoming more aware you instantly get far better at it, because you begin to know what you project together with your own non verbal communication . You’ll notice some unhealthy habits or a nasty self-image.

There’s a tight link between how you are feeling and the way you act, because unless you are trying to fake it – your body will project what dwells within. So if you’ve got a nasty self-image, you’ll also project it outside, but sort of a feeding loop – having bad habits (such as nervous jerks or a grim face) can sustain your bad mood and nervousness.

So if you would like to vary the way others perceive you and therefore the way you are feeling , the primary step is basically to urge obviate bad habits and resolve your internal conflicts. You would like to figure on the inside… Learn what stopping you from being better off and assured in life. it isn’t easy, but admitting it’s the primary step, it’s hard to vary if you’ve got some heavy burden you carry around.

What I can assist you with is identifying the symptoms, not the source, but the items you’ll project together with your body and are not aware that they slow you down.

And yet there’s another road to require – to figure from the surface to influence the way you are feeling . I said that your feelings are linked to your behavior, so by reversing the loop you’ll affect your emotions. The mere acting within the way you would like to feel can often have an enormous impact on your emotions thereto direction. Just watch this:

Another advantage of this approach is that if you are doing this right you’ll start a snowball effect, one regeneration results in another and before you recognize it you will be rolling within the right direction. Others will start to require notice of your change and respond accordingly – what gives you an ethical boost and therefore the snowball continues to roll… eventually you’ll change without even noticing it.

It’s Not About Being Unnatural

Well… if you ever tried acting, you recognize it isn’t that easy, regardless of what percentage tricks you bought there. This is often actually not my goal here – I’m not here to undertake to vary who you’re or turn you into some superhero or whatever.

It’s not that it isn’t possible, it is, but it’s its price in dedication. The important question is – does one want to play a neighborhood and make people think you’re someone else… or does one want to be yourself, but equipped with better social skills?

Unless you bought an ‘antisocial’ in your personal description and you would like to stay it that way, I think you’ve got something to realize from learning non verbal communication . I’m not here to inform you to form a makeover; we’ve reality shows for that.

All I’m saying is that by being more perceptive and responsible to your own behavior you’re one step ahead in almost any interaction. Believe me, you’ll still have your unique and wonderful personality combined with the knowledge to speak better.

Are you social?

“Don’t worry. Just be yourself” – We all heard that sentence a minimum of once in our lives. Unfortunately, sometimes our “yourself” are often very unnatural. We all remember some moments that we didn’t feel quite right in our surroundings .

Avoid Being Manipulated by Others

You don’t need me to inform you that there are people that will attempt to cash in of you, if you give them the prospect . So give yourself a foothold when handling such types. Becoming more perceptive will provide you with a warning of falsehood and keep you on your toes automatically. We all get that “gut feeling” once we feel something is wrong and someone is lying to us. Sadly, often we ignore that feeling by convincing ourselves with other “logical” explanations. That gut feeling is really picked up by our subconscious , and tries to warn us that something “smells”.

So learn to concentrate thereto , once you recognize why you bought that feeling you will have a more objective mind to affect it. it isn’t always ‘right’, but a minimum of you will have a far better chance knowing why.

The subconscious picks up many nonverbal signals you are not actively conscious of , while your conscious mind is concentrated more on the verbal channel. When there’s a conflict between the verbal and therefore the nonverbal channels we feel that something is wrong. Incongruence within the messages we receive means actions don’t match words, and since lying with words is much easier than with the body… you’ll realize why reading non verbal communication is a crucial asset to police investigators.

First Impression Leaves Big Impression

You probably know this one already. We all attempt to impress on our first date and to seem our greatest during employment interview.

So the bad or excellent news , depends on how you see it, is that we’ve little or no control over it. you’ll want to be open and not judgmental, but your system automatically classifies people without your permission, and it does that very quickly. That’s an honest thing basically – more often than not, it is important to spot with whom you’re handling and whether or not you’ll trust them.

What make things even more complicated is that when an impact is about , it’s pretty hard to vary it. Our brain dislikes the notion of adjusting set ideas – it makes living much harder. It simply easier for us to believe things that support something we already know instead of changing our minds about it.

These two facts combined tell us one thing – be great initially impression. And guess what’s here to assist you…

So make the primary step right, prepare yourself.

First impression are often changed in future encounters if we exerting enough, it won’t be an instantaneous change, but it are often done. Sometimes, however, we do not get a second chance – if it’s an all or nothing situation, knowing the way to use non verbal communication are often priceless.

It is the Universal Language

The last point is about curiosity. Because I think that learning non verbal communication isn’t all about personal benefits, but it also can enrich your life and teach you about other cultures.

Body language is universal. We all have the capacity to know others intuitively and share tons of universal expressions no matter our background – like facial expressions. it is a unifying notion, because it’s what we call being human, to acknowledge something you recognize and feel in others.

Of course, we do have differences – different notions about personal space, customs and gestures. Such variation is fascinating, albeit you are not an anthropologist, but as an outsider you’ll quickly understand that your notion of what’s right and obvious isn’t so in other places.

On a Final Note
The term of “body language” is probably new when presented in a professional world. But its roots and principles are older than written communication .

Learning and mastering these principles isn’t a mere idea, you’ll see its application in any field that involves working with people . they’re applied in leadership, speechmaking , salesmanship, acting, enforcement , the court of law and lots of other fields.

So once I suggest learning non verbal communication – I’m not talking about some isolated or unrelated concept, but a really real and integral part of your life.
